It is kind of imagination having direct relevance for everyday life. It is referred as a vision of life on earth stimulated by movements in the heavens. It is also said to be the saving form of knowledge which can be acquired through learning.

The practitioner of astrology is called as an astrologer. It is believed that the term mathematicus was previously used to represent the person who is proficient in astrology, astronomy, and mathematics. The science generally considers astrology to be just a superstition as astrologers have failed empirical tests in controlled studies. Even though it lacks scientific evidence, astrology is popular among people and believed by millions across the world.

Astrology believes that the mankind is not only influenced by hereditary factors and the environment, but also by the state of the solar system at the moment of birth. The planets being the basic life-forces act as the tools for the basis of every existence. They play important role by taking different forms, depending on their zodiacal position and on the way they relate to one another.

The force between the planets involved in Astrology is the gravitational force with which the Sun controls the Earth's motion, the Moon controls its tides, and the other Planets have their own effects on the Earth along with the people who live on Earth.

The expression in the spheres of life depicted by the astrological houses is clearly evident from the aspects formed between the planets which describe the relationships and the positions of the planets in relation to the place of birth. By analyzing these roles along with the elements, the signs and the houses based on the natal horoscope, the astrology can produce a comprehensive picture of the person and his potentials. It gives an insight into the way of life through mythical and magical language.

The first modern Astrology textbook was written by Ptolemy who worked between 150 AD and 180 AD and established the heart and soul of Astrology. Even today, this concept of Ptolemy has not changed much in the way it is practiced in the West. There are many areas where astrology is predicted like business, medical, stock market, mundane, electoral, weather and horary astrology. The most popular type of astrology is natal astrology which analyzes the characteristics of people based on the time and the place of birth.
