Numerology

Numerology deals with the study of numbers and the manner in which they reflect and correspond to everything else in the whole cosmic plan.

It refers to the mystical or esoteric relationship between the numbers and the physical objects or the living things. The numbers are believed to be the reliable language system through which the universe is made understandable.

The base numbers from 1 to 9 have significant effect on everything. According to numerology, each letter in the alphabet has a numeric value providing a related cosmic vibration.

By computing the numbers of birth date and the name, it is possible to understand to a great extent the character, the purpose in life, the motivations, the strengths, the weaknesses, the fears, the talents, and many other factors of individuals. Numerology helps in deciding when to invest, when to marry, when to travel, when to change jobs, or relocate.

The Greek mathematician, Pythagoras used numerology and numerological divination which are referred as the pseudomathematics.
It is believed by the historians that the modern numerology has been derived by integrating the teachings from the ancient Babylonia, the works of Pythagoras and his followers, the astrological philosophy from Hellenistic Alexandria, the mysticism of Christians, the occultism of the early Gnostics and the Hebrew system of the Kabbalah.

The numerology had roots dating back to thousands of years and it has references and records in the Indian Vedas, the Chinese “Circle of the Dead”, and the Egyptian “Book of the Master of the Secret House".

Pythagoras and other philosophers thought that the mathematical concepts had greater actuality as they were more practical than physical ones. This idea relates to philosophical pragmatism and provides the option of permanent concepts over the changeable physicality.

St. Augustine of Hippo believed that the numbers are the universal language offered by the deity to humans as confirmation of the truth. Like Pythagoras, he too believed that everything had numerical relationships and it was up to the mind to seek and investigate the secrets of these relationships or have them revealed by divine grace.

The Christian authority in the Roman Empire has not favoured the numerology. Following the First Council of Nicaea, departures from the beliefs of the state Church were classified as civil violations within the Roman Empire.

It was assumed in those days that the numerology belonged to the field of unapproved beliefs along with astrology and other forms of divination and magic.

Due to this religious purging, the spiritual significance assigned to the numbers disappeared. In spite of this suppression also, many devout believers kept the secret knowledge locked away.

In numerology, all the nine numbers have significance. It is possible to know many important happenings of the past, the present and the future, just from a person’s birth date.

There are certain definitions to numbers and these definitions are used in conjunction with each other, to find the meaning of what ever they may be describing.

In digit summing, the definitions are combined within an equation to find their interaction, which in turn defines the base. The digit summing is the process used to reduce a number or a word and then reach conclusions based on the single digit obtained.

It involves taking the sum of all of the digits in a number and repeating the process until a single digit number is obtained. Each alphabet is assigned a digit as per the table below.
