The astrologers, who were not content with astrology alone, turned their hands to other and more fearful ways of searching the future. This was responsible for providing a very strong impulse to the atheism.

The atheism was considered as a criminal offense in many parts of the world. An ardent believer in astrology would scorn all moral considerations and all religion, as they cannot provide comforts or aids against the fate which was made manifest in the stars.

As astrology was believed to be one of the reasons for the rise of the atheism, the Judeo-Christian tradition condemned the astrology as an unlawful superstition. Even the bible warned the use of divination.

The Catholic Church condemned the astrological divination.
